Bombed from 13000 ft at 0120.
Combat at 0127. Port outer engine on fire, landed at Woodbridge.
Sortie completed.
15/16-7-44 NEVERS as rear gunner
ND 512 with S/L Lace
Bombed two red spot fires 0202. 3500 ft, 1st wave. T.I's becoming
obscured by smoke at the time of bombing. Two big explosions
at 0200 and 0209. Tail trace attachment good.
Seen all the way down. Route quiet. Attack should have done some
damage in
target area.
26/27-7-44 GIVORS as rear gunner
ND 957 with F/L Botting.
Bombed at 0220, 7000 ft, 1st wave.
Weather conditions very bad at target, but the G.T.I's were finally
bombed.
They seemed to be accurately placed. No opposition of any kind.
12/13-8-44 BRUNSWICK as rear gunner
PB 308 with W/C Twiggs
Bombed at 0006, 19200 ft, 1st wave on ETA. Bombing appeared scattered
in general. We bombed the biggest concentration visible.
Appearance of fires suggest a built up area.
14-8-44 QUESNAY as mid-upper gunner
ND 957 with F/L Botting,
Bombed at 14211/2, 8000 ft, main force.
Bomb aimer claimed a direct hit on yellow T.I.
Gaggle was very spread. Pall of smoke rising to 6000 ft from
target.
Bombing very concentrated. A highly successful raid.
17-9-44 BOULOGNE as rear gunner
PB 300 with F/LHay,
Bombed 7700 ft at 0834. Bombs were dropped on red T.I. markers.
5-10-44 WILHELMSHAVEN as mid-upper gunner
PB 504 with F/L Hay,
Bombed from 15600 ft at 1108. Visual identification not possible,
but convinced that with the good H2S picture obtained, bombs
went on southern part of town. Successful sortie.
11-10-44 VEERE as mid-upper gunner
PB 519 F/L Botting
Own bombs seen on aiming point. Other sticks seen to straddle
wall.
Bombed at 1450 from 7500 ft. Successfule sortie.
14/15-10-44 BRUNSWICK as mid-upper gunner
PB 519 with F/L Botting,
Bombed from 17500 ft at 0232. Markers seemed to be in position
and sector attack successful. Considered successful sortie.
