The memoirs of Bert Cole

Bert Cole was a Lancaster bomb aimer
and on the night of 9th/10th August 1943 during a raid on Mannheim he was shot down.

His memoirs tell the full story from joining up, through successful missions and then the fateful raid on Mannheim.

The story continues through Bert's time as a PoW and his experiences of being moved from camp to camp.

He reached Stalag XIB in Fallingbostel during March 1945 before a final march north towards Lübeck from where they were liberated on May 2nd 1945.
