| 23 November, 1939: At noon,
on a very foggy winters day, S/Ldr McGregor-Watt was practicing
a new blind approach system at Waddington. Visibility was down
to 50 yards as Hampden L4034 made a normal approach at very low
level. The aircraft flew across the aerodrome without shutting
off its engines, when suddenly it struck a hangar at the far
side of the landing ground. Three members of the crew; AC1 S.
Taylor, AC1 F.D. Talbot and AC2 W.O. Kelly were killed instantly.
The remainder of the crew; S/Ldr P. McGregor-Watt, Cpl T.A. Keating
